Top Seven Reasons I will always have my SHO
By Richard Frantz rich_frantz@hotmail.comvFrom the SHOtimes mailing list. 7. Nothing says 'SUCCESS' like a 11 year old rusty sedan.
6. Service manager counting on me to put his kids through college.
5. No matter how much I curse it, it is always still in the driveway in the morning.
4. Frequent breakdowns = lost time from work = no money for new car.
3. Can sleep later in the morning as leaky sunroof makes shower redundant.
2. Won't start for car thieves either.
and the number one reason I'll always have my SHO...
1. Black leather interior + Non-functioning A/C = Hot Ham sandwiches for everybody! Doh

S.H.O. Club member sets land speed records
UPDATED! EVEN MORE RECORDS! (Preliminary report from Ransom Holbrook) (Ransom's record runs are partly sponsored by the SHO Club) Event at Maxton N.C. "Had a blast this past weekend. (May 26-27, 2001, Ed) For the first time I had no troubles out of my SHO at a major event, of course this was the first time I trailored it to an event. :) I made it through the 'extensive' technical inspection without much to do or change. I have three items to add or change before the next event. The comment was even made by the inspector that this was the 'easiest' street car to race car inspection he had ever done.
"I made 6 passes on Saturday and 1 on Sunday. I could have easily made a bunch more, especially on Sunday, but I learned that to get the best times I had to wait for my SHO's intake to cool down and I did so well on my 1st run Sunday, I didn't want to press my luck. I now believe all that business about an intercooler for anything above 6 psi.
"My best run of the meet was on Sunday at 157.895 mph. Now, I'm only 2.105 mph away from the required parachute! Of course I set or reset a record on nearly every run that I made. A bunch of ECTA members were really impressed with my SHO, they even jokingly said that they would gladly accept one of my slower 150 mph speed slips to replace with theirs."
Thanks for y'all's support (The note below is from Ransom's earlier efforts:) This quick note from Ransom Holbrook of Blackey KY:"I just got back from Maxton (N.C., site of the record runs pute on by the East Coast Timing Association) and I'm really tired, but I figured I would shoot you an email with my results. "I did 4 runs on Saturday. 1st run 127.119 , new record E/BGSS . "They warned me about going over 125 without a roll cage, my speedo is off by about 6 mph at 120, oops!
"For the second run I switched classes to E/BGC. "Set another record at 123.119, new record E/BGC. 3rd run 125.348, upped my record in E/BGC..they warned me again about the 125 limit. "4th run I opened her up, 152.801..disqualified :) "BTW, Bonneville record for E/BGC is 152.351 and they have 3 miles instead of about 5000 feet to get up to speed. "All runs were done with an easy take off and short shifting 1st and 2nd. "I think I can get to 160 if the roll bar doesn't weigh me down.
"Now the unpleasant news: my Super Charger decided to go out on the way back, but I did drive the SHO back home." Ransom Holbrook ED. NOTE: Look for pictures and a full exclusive story in the Summer issue of the S.H.O. Magazine and on this website. Ransom's runs were partially sponsored by the S.H.O. Club.

After about 30 hours of working on it over the weekend, and multiple crashes with the screensaver program... the screensaver is complete.
This is a self installing screensaver. Just save the v8sho2.exe file to your computer and then double click it.
The new screensaver consists of 152 SHO images. So that means its a large file... 11.3 MB I do believe. If anybody has doubts on whether to download it or not, talk to Mark Hlady or Kirk Doucette. They were my lab rats to test it out. Also...before anybody questions the pic of June Han's car, let me say that he sent it to me to be included in the screensaver.
Also...Tim or Mike, you can update the link on V8SHO.com to point to this if you'd like. This way you won't have to store it on V8SHO.com or use up the sites bandwidth.
Best Regards, Troy 96 Medium Graphite Screensaver King

Been Waiting for a new DIS/Ignition module? There may be hope.
As reported on the SHOtimes mailing list: Here is the new Motorcraft part number for the formerly unavailable modules. Please verify this information before attempting to order from your Ford parts dealer:
Old Motorcraft # DY-655 Old Ford Part # F1SF-12A297-BA
New Motorcraft# DY-958 New Ford Part # 1U2Z-12A297-C
Ford raised the jobber price on this module approx. $20 over the original. So, get your check books ready, these new units should be hitting the dealer shelves very soon!
Rick Mosley Umatilla, FL
Our thanks to Rick for providing this information, as always, SHO Club members should follow up and double check all numbers before ordering any part that they may not be able to return. This is the module that bolts to the passenger side end of the intake manifold. It has two wire connections, one on either end. When installing this module, be sure to apply some "heat sink" compound to the back side before installation, or follow the instructions. "Heat Sink" compound is NOT dielectric grease, but something entirely different.

S.H.O. Club featured in Muscle Mustangs and Fast Fords
The June issue of Muscle Mustangs and Fast Fords has a nice article in it about the SHO on-line community, featuring SHOtimes.com, V8SHO.com and of course, SHOclub.com. The article is called: CYBER STALLIONS, it is written by Jeff Bauer and is in the June 2001 issue on page 46.
Here are a couple of short excerpts: "Ford stopped building its Taurus SHO a few years back, but don’t tell that to the folks who make up the SHO online community. For these connoisseurs of speed, comfort and performance in a 4-door Blue Oval product, the party’s just getting started."
and "The organization and web site that ties together all SHO owners is SHO Club (www.shoclub.com). SHO Club is a national SHO club that has taken the place of the original SHO Registry, the original national club started in ‘91."
Be sure to buy the magazine if you don't get it already. It is nice to be recognized by such a major publication.

V8 SHO Blower Kit From SHOFast Performance
Here are new pictures of the SHOFast V8 Blower installation, now that it is prepared for sale. I am leaving the former "pre-production" pictures up after these, so you can compare and see the amount of work put into the project. This looks good, now everyone buy one and come to the convention with it!
