Another SHO gets the "Hot Foot"
Fellow SHO Owner, Robert Brown (location unknown) sent in these pics of his Silver Generation II SHO after an under-hood fire. He did not specify the cause of the fire, but one cause is a blown power steering hose, it sprays on the back header and cat converter. These high pressure hoses run from the pump on the back, lower passenger side of the motor and across. I had to have mine replaced on my 89 a couple of years ago (about 1999). If you have the subframe out for tranny work, try to spend the bucks to put in new power steering hoses at that time, they are a lot easier to get too with the subframe out. Good preventive maintenance.

A SHO Drawing
V8 SHO owner (97 Ebony Sable) publicly posted this drawing done by a former girlfriend. According to Kenny: "My ex girlfriend drew this picture for me, so I thought I'd share it. I realize she didn't do the wheels right, but it's still pretty cool. The weird thing is though, that guy is so me...that girl is so her......but...we're so 2.5 years ago!"

Two books that should be on your shelf:
TAURUS The Making of the car that Saved Ford By Eric Taub This book about the original 1986 Taurus. Helps you understand the thinking of the people behind the Generation I Taurus. Not about the SHO, but a book you should have anyway.
CAR A Drama of the American Workplace By Mary Walton
Mary got almost unprecendented access to the inside workings of Ford as the Third generationi (1996-1999) Taurus was reasearched and created. You get to know both upper and lower level Ford people and also get inside information on suppliers. I found the book spellbinding, almost a mystery novel. Of course it helps to be a gearhead and love the car.
Not much in here about the SHO, but it is mentioned along with the SHO Registry. Read and you will be able to amaze your friends with little known facts about dash buttons, grills, and those delightful headlights!
ISBN Number 0-393-04080-1 $26.95 suggested retail.
I bought it recently for $7.98 at Powells used book store online.Have other books you think SHO owners would enjoy? Let me know I will post them here.
