Taking your SHO to England? Here is what one V8 owner did to make it legal.
Hello guys and gals,
A couple of people have asked for pics of the things I added to the SHO to get it to meet UK specs.
The first was the addition of amber turn signals from a 97 SHO (mines a 98 so it had red turn signals).

Grassroots Motorsports Magazine's Open Track Challenge to Feature SHO
UPDATE 5-14-02 The OTC Challenge came to an early end for Gary and Tal, when the clutch started slipping at the first event and a suitable replacement could not be obtained until after another event or two had passed. Thus any chance for a good finish was not possible. We understand Gary and Tal have returned home to plan for their next adventure. They attribute this experience to not enough preparation time, the SHO being completed literally hours before they had to depart. Now that the car is mostly done, we hope they try again! Previous notice is below:
Well known SHO racer and tuner Gary Morrell and friend Tal Isbell are teaming up to run an SHO in the Open Track Challenge May 11-19, 2002.
Check out the event (click on the link above) to read about this event that is a bit similar to the famous One Lap of America.
In fact, Gary has done the One Lap at least twice, so this should be easy since the route covers only a couple of states and daily miles are a lot less. OTC competitors will get a LOT more track time with Formula One style practice and qualifying at each track. The two fastest runs for the day are your official times.
Good luck Gary and Tal!

Ford to Sell 51 Concept Vehicles
UPDATE: The list of vehicles offered is now out, no SHO specific products are listed. Only one car mentions, the SHO, and only to say it is a V12 with SHO pistons/rods. BUT, the car being sold doesn't even have a motor, so that isn't even true.

Repairing Cable Shift Mechanism
By Don Mallinson
The cable shift mechanism in the ’89 through mid-’91 SHO’s has a few fans, but a lot of detractors. When it works right, it is a decent shifter. When it goes wrong, it can be frustrating.
The most common problem is the clip that holds the ball end of the cable onto the shift mechanism at the shifter comes apart. Driveway fixes include tying the parts together with wire, but there is a neat solution, and it comes from the MOPAR parts bin!

About the announcment on the cover of the current (Vol 1 No 4 / Vol 2 No 1) magazine about the SHO model you can bid on on E-bay
These covers are made up a month or more before the issue is mailed due to lead time requirements. At the time we firmed up the cover, we thought that we were going to do an E-bay auction for the Red Cross of a SHO model.
Since then, we decided to just offer the model at the convention, and to let people know what they are bidding on, I (Don Mallinson) am buying the first of these models for myself with my own money from the person making the donation to the convention charity auction: Joseph Van Oss.
Joseph is a master modeler that can do a SHO model in great detail with the correct colors, mods on motors etc. His deal is this:
He will make a model for the winning bidders (he will donate two models) of THEIR car. The winning bidder must supply pictures of their car and work with Joseph to get the details right (down to tint on the windows, stuff in side the car etc). What Joseph asks is that the winning bidder pay about $40 for his supplies (one of the plastic models still available, they usually go on E-bay or in stores for $15 to $25) plus paint and trim etc. He is donating his time (many, many hours) and will build a wonderful keepsake for you and your family of your special SHO.
Only catch is that he can only do Generation I (1989-1991) SHO's since that is the only Taurus model ever made.
The model of my 1991 Mocha/Mocha SHO Plus will be on display at the convention to let people know what quality of model they will bid on.
We are NOT doing an E-bay auction! Only auctions (one live, one silent) at the Maryland Convention. All proceeds from the auction go to the Red Cross. Remember you also owe Joseph the approx $40 fee up front on top of your convention auction bids.
If you have questions, please contact me at SHOclub.

SHO Named Q-Ship of the Week by Straight-six.com
By Don Mallinson 3-6-2002
A web site called straight-six.com has chosen the 1992-1995 SHO as their "Q-Ship of the week."
Although they get some facts wrong (about the 3.2L motor and what years it was in) they do a nice review. They also get down on the Gen III V8 SHO pretty hard, but I wrote an e-mail response to them to set them straight on both accounts, and thank them for taking notice of our favorite car.
