S.H.O. Club member sets land speed records UPDATED! EVEN MORE RECORDS! (Preliminary report from Ransom Holbrook) " Had a blast this past weekend. (May 26-27, 2001, Ed)
For the first time I had no troubles out of my SHO at a major event, of course this
was the first time I trailored it to an event. :) I made it through the 'extensive'
technical inspection without much to do or change. I have three items to add or change
before the next event. The comment was even made by the inspector that this was the
'easiest' street car to race car inspection he had ever done. (The note below is from Ransom's earlier efforts:) This quick note from Ransom Holbrook of Blackey KY: "I just got back from Maxton (N.C., site of the record runs pute on by the East Coast Timing Association) and I'm really tired, but I figured I would shoot you an email with my results. "I did 4 runs on Saturday. 1st run 127.119 , new record E/BGSS . "They warned me about going over 125 without a roll cage, my speedo is off by about 6 mph at 120, oops!
"For the second run I switched classes to E/BGC. "Set another record at 123.119, new record E/BGC. 3rd run 125.348, upped my record in E/BGC..they warned me again about the 125 limit. "4th run I opened her up, 152.801..disqualified :) "BTW, Bonneville record for E/BGC is 152.351 and they have 3 miles instead of about 5000 feet to get up to speed. "All runs were done with an easy take off and short shifting 1st
and 2nd. "I think I can get to 160 if the roll bar doesn't weigh me down. Ransom Holbrook ED. NOTE: Look for pictures and a full exclusive story in the Summer issue of the S.H.O. Magazine and on this website. Ransom's runs were partially sponsored by the S.H.O. Club. Back to the SHO Club main page SHOClub.com |
